6065MW power shortfall triggers upto 12 hours loadshedding

The power shortfall in the country has crossed 6,065 Megawatts, after which the load-shedding period once again went up to 12 hours, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Tuesday.

According to Power Division sources, the total production of electricity is 22,435 MW while the total demand is 28, 500 MW.

According to details, 6600 MW of electricity is being generated from water and 1120 MW is being generated from government’s thermal plants.

The total production of private sector power plants is 11000 MW. The production from wind power plants is 1100 MW and solar plants is 170 MW.

Biogas-powered plants are generating 160 MW of electricity, while 2,285 MW of electricity is being generated from nuclear fuel.

According to Power Division sources, due to the increase in power shortfall, the major cities across the country are facing 8-hour loadshedding while the duration of loadshedding in high-loss areas is 10 to 12 hours.
