Federal Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah has said that the coalition government has decided in principle that assemblies will be dissolved after completing their term.

Talking to the 24NewsHD TV channel exclusively, he said the government led by Shehbaz Sharif will step down next month as it completes its term, paving the way for general elections.

The minister reiterated that the party is planning to accord a grand welcome to Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on his return home and this welcome will break all previous records.

In reply to a question that President Arif Hussain Alvi can become an obstacle in the way of the dissolution of the Assembly, the interior minister said that the President cannot stop the summary regarding the dissolution of the Assembly.

Rana Sanaullah said the Afghanistan government's statement is irresponsible, whether they have an agreement with Pakistan or America, the fact is that they will not allow their land to be used for terrorism against any other country.

He also disclosed that the allied parties’ government did not offer any kind of NRO to former prime minister Imran Khan.

The minister revealed that an investigation is being conducted on the events of May 9. “Legal action will be taken against all those involved,” he said adding that cases against the involved people will be tried in military courts.

To yet another question, he said that PTI leader Murad Saeed is still hiding.

Talking about the upcoming general elections, he said under the new census, the number of seats in the provinces and districts will change and for this purpose, the constitutional amendment is necessary. However, he disclosed that the parliament is not ready for constitutional amendment at this time.

“Even if a new census is notified, no new constituencies will be formed,” he clarified.

Interior Minister said the election has to be done on the voters list which has been updated. He said that if there are no votes of MQM and Jamaat-e-Islami, they can still register their votes in the voter list.
