The Karachi Bar Association has formally requested an exemption from wearing black coats for lawyers due to the ongoing heatwave in the city, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Thursday.
In a letter addressed to the Sessions Judges, the General Secretary of the Karachi Bar Association highlighted the severe weather conditions currently affecting Karachi.
The association noted that wearing black coats in the intense heat has become increasingly challenging and poses a risk to the health of the lawyers.
They have requested a ten-day exemption to alleviate the discomfort and health issues caused by the heatwave.
The Karachi Bar Association said the city is experiencing unusually high temperatures, making it difficult for lawyers to perform their duties while adhering to the traditional dress code.
They urged the judiciary to consider the well-being of the legal community and allow lawyers to appear in court without the black coat for the specified period.
