The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics has released the findings of the 7th Census, revealing that Pakistan's population growth rate is one of the highest recorded globally.
If the current rate continues, the population of Pakistan is projected to double by 2050.
Only 27 countries worldwide are experiencing a higher population growth rate than Pakistan.
Balochistan has the highest annual population growth rate at 3.2%. Sindh follows closely with a growth rate of 2.57%. Punjab registers a growth rate of 2.53% in population. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's population growth rate stands at 2.38%.
The report highlights several key statistics about the country's demographic composition and social issues.
According to the report, there are 2.12 million people of Afghan, Bengali, Chinese, and other nationalities living in Pakistan.
The religious minorities population includes 8.7 million Hindus, Christians, Qadianis, and individuals of other religious affiliations.
The report said that 3.10% of the population is disabled, with 3.30% of males and 2.88% of females affected.
The national literacy rate stands at 61%, with 68% of males and 53% of females literate.
According to the report, approximately 25.37 million children aged 5 to 16 years are out of school.
Punjab has 9.6 million, Sindh 7.8 million, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 4.9 million, and Balochistan over 5 million out-of-school children.
The report also provides insights into the age distribution and marital status of the population.
According to the report, 79% of the population is under 40 years of age. Those under 15 years make up 40.56%, and those aged 15 to 29 constitute 26%.
The report revealed that 29.75% of the population is single, while 65.97% are married. The percentage of widows is 3.78%, and the divorce rate stands at 0.35%.
