PM Shehbaz begins consultations with allies over SC's reserved seats verdict

PM to hold meeting with President Zardari today: Nawaz Sharif to consult allies on a ban on PTI and invoking Article 6: PML-N president calls party meeting tomorrow

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has initiated consultations with coalition parties regarding the Supreme Court's decision to allocate reserved seats to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) as a political party in the parliament and provincial assemblies.

According to the 24News HD TV channel, The sources said the ruling PML-N aims to take PPP into confidence regarding the decision to potentially ban PTI and invoke Article 6. 

The sources said negotiations between the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) will take place today (Friday) at the President's House.

The sources said PM Shehbaz will consult with President Asif Ali Zardari and the PPP team including Farooq H Naek, Sherry Rehman, and Nayyar Bukhari while Ishaq Dar, Azam Nazeer Tarar, Atta Tarar, and Sardar Ayaz Sadiq will also participate in the consultation meeting.

On this occasion, Attorney General Mansoor Awan will brief the President and other members about the case, the sources added.

Meanwhile, the ruling party PML-N has also decided to engage with coalition partners to assess the political situation following the SC's decision on reserved seats. 

The sources said PML-N President Nawaz Sharif will personally reach out to allies including President Asif Ali Zardari and Pakistan Muslim League Quaid (PML-Q) head Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain for consultations.

After the consultation with allied parties, PML-N's central leadership will hold a significant meeting tomorrow (Saturday) at Model Town, Lahore. Nawaz Sharif will chair this meeting while Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and the senior provincial minister will also participate. 

In the PML-N meeting, the legal team will brief the party president on the current legal situation. The meeting will focus on formulating the party's future strategy following the situation after the SC's decision in the reserved seat case.
