PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has supported the move by PML-N President and Opposition Leader in National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif to call All Parties Conference on election reforms, reported 24News HD TV channel on Saturday.
Shehbaz Sharif held telephonic consultation talks with Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazalur Rehman and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in this regard.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that they fully supported Shehbaz’s initiative, saying that the decision was timely and appropriate.
Bilawal said the APC could be an important opportunity to build a national consensus on holding transparent, fair, and free elections.
Sources said that the date for the APC would be decided after the consultation with all united opposition parties. All the opposition parties will be invited to participate in the conference.
The sources said that other than the opposition parties, all stakeholders including the Election Commission of Pakistan, civil society, and the media would also be invited to participate in the APC. They said that the election observation and monitoring organizations would also be invited in this regard.
