As Eid al-Adha is approaching fast, the breeders of Karachi city have started bringing down their Qurbani animals from their rooftops, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.

In a recent video that went viral on social media, a resident of Nazim Abad brought down his seven cows with the help of a crane from the rooftop.

A large number of people rushed to see the scene as the cattle were lowered by a crane from the top of a four-story home.

The video clip has sparked a debate about animal cruelty online yet again.

A number of the faithful in the country raise their own calves at home a few months before Eid al-Adha.

Due to the crowded population, agricultural land scarcity, and irregular urbanization in Karachi, people sometimes keep their animals on their roofs to grow.

Although the Sindh government has put a ban on lifting animals via crane to or from the rooftop. The faithful continue to use a crane to airlift their animals and then be brought down to the ground.

In the year 2020, a bull fell to the ground and died when it was taken down by a crane from the roof of a house in Sarjani Town Sector Karachi.

After the tragic incident, a ban was imposed on taking animals down from the roof with the help of a crane

According to the Sindh Livestock Department, cruelty to animals is a violation of animal rights under the Act of 1990.

"Most of the animals are injured while unloading the sacrificial animals from the roof."
