Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has called for engagement with the Afghan government in wake of the looming humanitarian crisis in the country.
In an interview with CNN on Wednesday, he said Pakistan does not intend to take a unilateral decision about the recognition of the Afghan government.
The minister hoped that the government in Afghanistan will fulfill its commitments and will not allow its soil to be used for terrorism against any country.
He also expressed the hope that the Afghan government will live up to its promise that girls and women would be allowed to go to school, college and university.
He underscored the importance of preventing an economic collapse in Afghanistan which could have disastrous implications for the people of Afghanistan.
Responding to a question, the FM said the international community should focus on dealing with humanitarian crisis instead of the blame game. He said abandoning the people of Afghanistan will not be beneficial for the world community.
To a question, he said Islam guarantees the rights of men and women in an equal degree and Pakistan was the first Muslim country to have a female prime minister. He stressed fighting extremism is his life's work and he has focused on spreading a peaceful and progressing message of Islam.
The foreign minister met his Italian counterpart on the sidelines of the ‘Global Food Security Call to Action meeting in New York. “Italy is an important friend of Pakistan,” he tweeted after the meeting. “We are keen to expand our relationship with Italy, especially in economic and commercial spheres.”

He also met UNGA President Abdulla and raised the Kashmir issue with the latter. Talking to the US secretary of state, the foreign minister expressed his determination to strengthen the broad-based and multilateral Pak-US bilateral relations. In his meeting with the UN chief about illegal demographic changes in the Indian occupied Valley and its repercussions. He raised the issue of serious human rights violations in Indian-occupied Kashmir.
