Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) on Friday notified stoppage of gas supply to the CNG sector in Sindh for a period of 24 hours in view of its acute shortage, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Accordingly, all CNG stations in the province will now remain closed from 8: 00 AM on Sunday to 8: 00 AM on Monday.
As per notification, the CNG stations powered by RLNG will also remain shut during the aforementioned period.
Meanwhile, Senator Sherry Rehman of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has said that the country is already facing the gas loadshedding despite the fact that the winter season is still not at its peak.
In a tweet on Friday, she regretted that despite 350 per cent hike in gas prices, the country was still facing worst gas crisis.
Quoting its sources, 24News had reported yesterday (Thursday, November 18, 2021) that in view of the approaching winter season, the government had prepared a set of proposals or in other words ‘gas load management plan’ to determine which sector was to receive gas and how much.
The sources told 24News that according to one of the proposals, the gas supply to industries, barring export-oriented ones, and the CNG sector should be suspended for a period of two months.
The purpose of other measures, which have been proposed, is to save domestic and commercial consumers from severe gas crises this winter season. Reporter Ashraf Khan
