Continental air is prevailing over most parts of the country while upper areas are gripped under cold wave and rain-wind-thunderstorm with snowfall expected in hilly areas till Sunday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The weather department predicted mainly cold and dry weather is expected in most parts of the country. However, smog/fog is likely in plain areas of Punjab on Saturday.
The weather department said that rain is expected in Citral, Dir, Swat and Kohistan.
Met Office informed that a westerly wave is likely to enter upper/central parts of the country on Friday (today) and under the influence of this weather system: Rain-wind-thunderstorm with snowfall over mountains is expected in Islamabad, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Malakand, Kohistan, Shangla, Buner, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Swabi, Mardan, Nowshera, Peshawar, Charsadda, Bajaur, Kurram, Waziristan, Kohat, Mianwali, Khushab, Sargodha, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Okara, Pakpattan, Bahawalnagar, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Bhakkar, Layyah, Gilgit Baltistan and Kashmir from Friday(evening/night) to Sunday.
