Co-Chairman of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and former president Asif Ali Zardari has said that the general elections in the country should be held on time, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
In his statement, former president Asif Ali Zardari said that the country is moving towards transparent elections and the People's Party is fully prepared for it.
He was of the view as the conditions in the country are conducive, elections should be held on time.
He said that we have confidence in the Election Commission that it would conduct a transparent election.
The former president said that the People's Party is the only party which is capable of contesting elections in any environment and will emerge as the majority party of the country on February 8.
Yesterday, UK High Commissioner Jane Marriott called on PPP leader Asif Ali Zardari at Bilawal House in Karachi.
A statement issued later by the PPP said that they held a detailed discussion on a “range of issues” including Israeli aggression in Gaza, Pakistan's politics and economy.
Sources informed that the British diplomat was eager to understand the PPP’s confidence regarding the prospects of elections on February 8. She also wanted to know the party’s strategy for the upcoming national elections.
