After Islamabad, public gatherings banned in Karachi too

After Islamabad, the government on Monday imposed Section 144 in Karachi too as part of its efforts to contain PTI’s November 24 protests.

Section 144 will remain effective for seven days. 

Also, authorities in Karachi have banned entry of the general public to the Karachi Airport and the surrounding areas. The decision has been taken due to security threats.

Malir SSP Kashif Abbasi said access to the areas near the Karachi airport too has been restricted. Only people with travel documents will be allowed to enter the airport. Police and Rangers personnel have been deployed at five points around the airport at five places. The security personnel are doing duty at the five checkpoints round the clock and checking suspicious cars and persons. Checkpoints have been set up at Star Gate, CAA Club, Madam Bridge, Model Morr, ASF Road and Rangers Checkpost.

Authorities have advised people to reach at the airport before time to avoid any inconvenience.
