Aleema Khan, the elder sister of Pakistan’s jailed former prime minister Imran Khan, said on Tuesday that November 24 is an important day for Pakistan.

Imran Khan, founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has given a call for nationwide protests on November 24.

Quoting a meeting with Imran Khan at Adiala Jail, where he has been incarcerated since August 5, 2023, Aleema Khan said the former prime minister has given the call only twice; first on February 8 and now on November 24. She said that people came out on February 8 to cast their votes and now they should come out with the same spirit to protect that ideology and snatch their vote from those who stole it. She said that vote theft is an unconstitutional thing.

Aleema Khan said that people who voted on February 8 now make a huge ideological party. She said the first election on ideological basis was held in 1970 and the second on February 8, 2024. She said that political parties contesting the 1970 general election were given one year for electioneering, freedom of campaigning and electoral symbols, but all these things were snatched before the February 8 general elections. She said that ideological people’s struggle does not end. She said that a peaceful protest is people's constitutional right.

Referring to PTI Chairman Gohar Ali Khan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur’s meeting with Imran Khan, Aleema Khan said both the leaders met the jailed former prime minister and briefed him about the preparations for the Nov 24 protest movement. She said that Barrister Gohar and Gandapur sought Imran Khan’s permission for talks with the establishment and Imran Khan said that political parties keep the doors for talks open.

Quoting Imran Khan, Aleema Khan said that ideological people like Dr Yasmin Rashid, Ejaz Chaudhry and Mahmood-ur-Rashid were in jails, but people like Andleeb Abbas chose the easy path. She said that an ideological worker will always stand for his/her right. She said that Imran Khan thanked the Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir for taking away electables from his party.
