Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Tuesday presided over a special meeting in Lahore to review health programmes and projects. She also approved launching of “Chief Minister Dialysis Programme Card”, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The Chief Minister also enhanced limit of treatment fund of dialysis patient to Rs1 million,
Now every dialysis patient will get Rs8,50,000 for treatment while Rs1,50,000 will be allocated for tests.
Chief Minister directed to provide free medicine and conduct free tests of dialysis patients and continue their treatment without any hinderance.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz directed Punjab Healthcare Commission to ensure strict implementation on SOPs in Dialysis Centers. She further directed to enhance strict monitoring of these dialysis centers.
CM Maryam expressed her serious concerns on reports regarding spreading of AIDS in dialysis patients and sought a detailed report in this regard within 24 hours.
He said that spreading of AIDS in dialysis patients is a shameful act for us. She said that halting dialysis process due to non-availability of funds is a condemnable act which should be discontinue at all costs.
During the briefing the CM was told that dialysis patients from other provinces also getting medical treatment in Punjab free of cost.
The CM was informed that Punjab government providing free medicines to Sindh, Balochistan and other provinces of the country.
The participants of the meeting also reviewed progress on under construction Punjab Institute of Cardiology-2 and Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cardiology in Sargodha.
He said that PIC-2 should be equipped with latest and state-of-the art technology and all necessary medicines must be provided to patients free of cost.
She said that master trainers will be appointed for training of specialist doctors in these hospitals.
