The Punjab Police have begun extensive preparations to manage and prevent disruptions during Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's (PTI) planned protest rally in Islamabad, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Tuesday.
A decision has been made to take strict action against anyone attempting to disturb the law and order situation.
To ensure readiness, 10,700 personnel from across Punjab have been placed on standby. The deployed forces include officers and staff from various units, districts, and specialized wings:
3,500 personnel from Punjab Highway Patrol (PHP), with an additional 500 already deployed.
1,000 personnel from the Provincial Constabulary (PC), supplementing 3,000 previously assigned.
1,000 personnel from the Special Protection Unit (SPU).
1,200 personnel from the Training Directorate.
1,300 personnel from the Gujranwala region, adding to 600 previously deployed.
Personnel from other districts include:
500 from Sargodha region, plus 400 earlier.
200 from Sheikhupura, 100 from Nankana Sahib, 200 from Sargodha district, and 200 from Khushab.
500 from Faisalabad, adding to 800 already stationed.
Additional contributions of 200 from Bahawalnagar, 300 from Bahawalpur, 300 from Muzaffargarh, and 200 from Okara.
The transport and deployment of these forces, equipped with anti-riot gear, will be overseen by the Regional Police Officers (RPOs), City Police Officers (CPOs), and District Police Officers (DPOs) of the respective areas.
The preparations come following instructions from Punjab Inspector General (IG) Police, with AIG Operations Punjab issuing directives to concerned officers through an official letter.
The police’s strategy underscores their intent to maintain peace and order during the protest while ensuring public safety and security.
