The Civil Aviation Authority has taken serious notice of the sudden cancellation of domestic flights by different airlines, reported 24NewsHD Tv channel on Tuesday.
Reportedly, the director air transport issued notices to Pakistan International Airline (PIA), Serene Air, Airblue and AirSial.
The CAA issued notices to the airlines regarding sudden cancellation of domestic flights after it received a large number of complaints by the passengers.
According to the aviation authority, from Oct 1 to Oct 18, as many as 1,145 flights were cancelled. The national flag carrier cancelled 130 scheduled flights out of a total of 417 flights.
The Serene Air annulled 117, Airblue 86 and AirSial terminated 50 scheduled flights.
The authorities informed that the CAA has released a formal code of conduct for the postponement of the scheduled flights.
According to the new rules, the airlines operators will be required to submit an affidavit to the respective office before seeking permission to cancel the international chartered flights.
The scheduled domestic flights must be flown on time and with 80% and 90% capacity.
In the event of technical glitch or some other complications, the permission for the postponement of the domestic flights could be sought.
The CAA called upon the airlines operators to realize their responsibilities to provide the travel facilities to passengers.
