In the scam of desecration of dozens of human bodies in Nishtar Hospital Multan, further 17 rotten bodies were properly buried after the funeral on Wednesday.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, the Multan police buried around 56 rotten bodies with the help of the union council secretary yesterday (Tuesday night).
Four days back, numerous desecrated dead bodies were found on the roof of the medical facility and a video of the incident also circulated on social media.
Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has terminated three senior doctors from the service for their alleged involvement in Nishtar hospital’s rotten bodies scam.
A decision to this effect was taken in a high-level meeting held here on Monday. The Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Pervez Elahi chaired the meeting while Provincial Minister of Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Dr Yasmin Rashid, former federal minister Munis Elahi, Inspector General Police Faisal Shahkar, Additional Chief Secretary Interior Captain (R) Asadullah, Special Secretary Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education and concerned r officials attended the meeting.
A preliminary inquiry report was submitted to CM about the incident of throwing dead bodies on the roof of Nishtar Hospital Multan.
Taking strict action in light of the inquiry report, the CM suspended three doctors, three other employees of Nishtar Hospital, and two SHOs of the respective police stations for their grave negligence.
He ordered the removal of Prof Dr Maryam Ashraf, Head of the Anatomy Department of Nishtar Medical University, Multan, Demonstrator Dr Abdul Wahab, and Demonstrator Dr Seerat Abbas.
Shah Rukn-e-Alam Colony Police Station SHO Umar Farooq and Mari Setal Police Station SHO Saeed Sial were also suspended.
The employees of Nishtar Medical University Multan, Ghulam Abbas, Mohammad Sajjad Nasir, and Abdul Rauf were also suspended.
An action under PEDA Act against those responsible for the negligence will also be directed in the meeting.
In any case, such behaviour with dead bodies is not acceptable, Parvez Elahi said, adding that the desecration of dead bodies is intolerable.
Dr Yasmeen Rashid briefed Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi about the inquiry report about the incident at Nishtar Hospital Multan.
