The slain women were identified as 51-year-old Shehnaz, 19-year-old Ayesha, 18-year-old Madiha and 13-year-old Aleena.
The arrested man, Muhammad Farooq, was said to be the husband of Shehbaz but he claimed that he and his sons were not at home at the time of the murders.
In his statement to police, Farooq, a resident of Lee Market, said the murdered women were his wife, daughter, granddaughter and a daughter-in-law. He told the police that the family had nor any enmity not had suspicion on anybody.
Farooq informed the police that when he returned home after work, he found the house locked from inside, adding he knocked at the door repeatedly, but no response came. “Then my son came after work, he managed to open the door,” he added.
When they entered the house, they found the decapitated bodies of their women, Farooq said and added their throats were slashed with a sharp-edged weapon.
Police have started investigation after shifting the dead bodies to Civil Hospital.
The police said they found the women’s bodies in four different rooms of their 7th-storey flat, located at Bantwa Street of Zainab Arcade in Lee Market. Their bodies carried torture marks, the police added.
The police further said that the only these four women were at home at the time of the murder and the killed fled the crime scene along with the murder weapon.
The police said that they were trying to get the footage from the CCTV cameras installed in the Bantwa Street.
The police said they suspected that someone close to the family was involved in these murders.

Farooq’s two daughter were married and his wife Shehnaz often rang at the police station and complained against her husband, the police sources said.
