The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has issued a directive to halt admissions in medical and dental colleges across all four provinces following the court rulings, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.

The announcement follows orders from the Sindh High Court and the Islamabad High Court, impacting admissions for MBBS and BDS programs in both public and private institutions.

According to the PMDC's official notification, admissions to medical colleges in Punjab, which were scheduled to begin on October 21, have been suspended.

The suspension affects not only Punjab but extends to other provinces as well, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, and Balochistan.

Medical and dental colleges in these regions are now required to halt their admissions for MBBS and BDS courses until further court orders.

The PMDC has communicated the decision to all universities authorized to handle admissions to medical and dental colleges across the provinces.

It says that medical and dental college admissions have been postponed until final court verdicts.

The official correspondence directs these institutions to comply with the court orders and cease the admission process until legal matters are resolved.

The suspension comes at a critical time for thousands of aspiring medical students across the country, who were preparing to begin their academic journey.

It remains unclear when the admission process will resume, as the matter is now tied to the ongoing legal proceedings in the respective courts.

The PMDC’s decision has raised concerns among students and their families, as it delays the academic calendar for medical and dental programs across Pakistan. The council has indicated that it will issue further updates as the situation evolves in light of the court rulings.
