IG Islamabad stops DIG Operations from transfering, posting of SHOs

Inspector General of Police Islamabad has stopped the DIG Operations from SHOs' transferring and posting , the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Tuesday.

The interesting development came to light after the issuance of a circular by the IG Islamabad to all DIGs and SPs in this regard.

The circular said that CPO Operations is a supervisory officer to monitors the performance of the specialized branches of operations and investigations in the operations division in Islamabad and report to ICCPO in all relevant matters and SHOs will be posted by DPO (SSP Operations) in future.

It added Islamabad is one district and the role of Islamabad Capital City Police Officer (ICCPO) has been defused in Police Order, 2002, which is in practice and vogue in ICT.

According to the Article-10, 11, and 27 of the Police Order-2002, the administration of Police in a general police area vest with the Islamabad Capital City Police Officer.

Moreover, ICCPO shall exercise such powers and perform such functions and duties and shall have such responsibilities as may be provided by or under the Police Order and any other law for the time being its force.

It continued that SSP Operations shall exercise the powers of the District Police Officer for operational purposes SSP Operations, Islamabad, and SSP Investigation Islamabad. In case of any dispute, the instructions of the IG will be followed.

According to sources, DIG Operations has pointed out the increasing crime in the city in several meetings. DIG Operation replaced four SHOs when IG Akbar Nasir Khan was abroad on leave.

IG had expressed his anger at the action of DIG Operations, sources added.
