The Islamabad High Court has granted temporary relief to PTI leader Salman Akram Raja, restraining authorities from arresting him in any case until tomorrow. Justice Mian Gul Hasan Aurangzeb issued the order while hearing Raja's petition, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Wednesday.
The court issued notices to the Home Secretary and other relevant parties, seeking responses and calling for records of all cases registered against Raja. The court also dismissed objections to the petition.
Raja's lawyer stated that an attempt was made to arrest him in Lahore yesterday, and expressed fears of further arrests, requesting protective bail.
Justice Aurangzeb ordered a halt to the arrest but limited the order's execution to within Islamabad's jurisdiction. The hearing has been adjourned until tomorrow.
