Justice Farooq Haider of the Lahore High Court (LHC) Thursday recommended the formation of a larger bench to hear petitions related to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) rally.

According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, the cases involve PTI's Alia Hamza, Sheikh Imtiaz, and Akmal Khan, who filed three separate petitions seeking permission to hold the rally, prevent it from being stopped, and halt arrests.

During the hearing, Punjab Government's Assistant Advocate General Muhammad Farrukh Lodhi represented the state, while Advocate Ishtiaq Ahmad Khan and others appeared for the petitioners.

Justice Farooq Haider pointed out that these three petitions are of a similar nature and require a joint legal interpretation.

The judge mentioned that significant material has been presented in the petition against allowing the rally, which necessitates a thorough examination by a larger bench.

Assistant Advocate General Lodhi emphasised the gravity of the allegations in the petition, indicating the need for proper clarification.

Following this, Justice Farooq forwarded the case files to the Chief Justice for the formation of a larger bench to address the matter.
