The appointment of the Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the National Assembly remains unresolved as the opposition has yet to submit names despite two requests.
Chief Whip Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry stated that the ruling party has decided to appoint an interim chairman for the PAC due to the delay.
In a statement, Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry emphasized the importance of filling the position, stating, "In the best public interest, this position cannot be kept vacant for long." Elections for the Chairman are expected to take place in the next day or two.
The opposition was asked to submit a four-member panel, but no response has been received. Dr. Chaudhry confirmed that a government member will be elected as an interim Chairman, but the chairmanship will be handed over to the opposition as soon as they provide a panel of nominees.
