Mohammad Amir bowled an extraordinary spell in Pakistan Super League match as Karachi Kings thrashed Peshawar Zalmi by six wickets on Monday at Pindi Cricket Stadium.

Babar Azam remained unbeaten on 70 off 59 balls and Alex Hales scored 49 off 27 balls as Kings easily achieved the 152 runs target in just 14 overs despite losing opener Sharjeel Khan early. Hales innings was a treat to watch as he hit two sixes and six fours in his innings but was clean bowled by Yasir Shah when he was just one run short of his half century.

For Zalmi, Yasir made most of his comeback to the PSL as a replacement as he was not picked by any franchise in the players draft and took two wickets for 28 runs. Hasan Ali took 1-28. For makeshift captain Wahab Riaz it proved a disastrous match as after losing the toss to getting out for just two runs, he also conceded 25 runs in his two overs.

Earlier, Shoaib Malik batted superbly to take Zalmi to a reasonable total when it was looking impossible for them to go beyond 120.

Karachi Kings captain Imad Wasim won the toss and elected to field in match against Peshawar Zalmi at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

Zalmi was led by Wahab Riaz in the match as regular captain Darren Sammy has been rested. West Indies T20 captain Carols Braithwaite replaced Sammy for the match while Shoaib Malik returned to the playing XI and Yasir Shah also made his way into the team. Karachi also made one change as they replaced fast bowler Umaid Asif with all-rounder Aamer Yamin.

Amir struck on very first ball of the match as he appealed for an LBW decision against Tom Banton, which the umpire turned down. However, the bowling side was successful in overturning the decision through review. A full and in swinging delivery pitched on the leg stump and struck the pad and the hawk eye confirmed that the ball was hitting the leg stump.

Next batsman Haider Ali started with confidence as he hit Amir for four on very first ball he faced. But on next ball his stumps tumbled left and right as he was beaten by a quick and inswinging delivery.

In fourth over, Aamer Yamin took the prized wicket of an inform Kamran Akmal who pulled a short delivery hard and picked out Babar Azam at midwicket after scoring four runs off eight balls.

At that moment Liam Livingstone and Malik steadied the Zalmi ship and added 47 runs before Livingstone went for a big hit in the air against Umer Khan and Babar Azam took a beautiful catch at was caught at long off. He scored 25 runs off 20 balls hitting a six and a four.

However, Malik kept his cool and added another 57 runs for fifth wicket with Lewis Gregory before Amir returned to break the partnership. Gregory scored 25 off 22 runs without hitting any boundary. Amir also removed Carlos Brathwaite next who top edged a short delivery that went high into the sky and wicketkeeper Chadwick Walton took a well-judged catch.

Malik continued to accelerate things and when scored 68 runs off 55 balls hitting six fours and a six before going down to Chris Jordan in the last over. Jordan also removed Wahab Riaz in the same over to keep Zalmi to 151-8.

Amir was the star of the night as he finished with figures of 4-25. Jordan took 2-33 while Aamer Yamin and Umer Khan picked one wicket each for 22 and 41 runs respectively.
