Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) MPA Surendar Valasai has accused the federal government led by Imran Khan of promoting discrimination against Dalits or scheduled caste Hindus by ignoring them in the formation of the National Commission for Minority Rights.

In a statement issued here on Friday, Sindh Assembly Member Surendar Valasai said that scheduled castes were almost half of the total non-Muslim population in the country yet not a single member has been nominated from them by the PTI government in the proposed commission. This is sheer discrimination against the marginalised majority, he said.

He said that provincial governments should be taken onboard on this commission. He said the federal government must induct best brains from non-Muslims as per their population ratio instead of making the commission another political arm of the PTI.
