The number of coronavirus cases in Pakistan jumped to 18,114 as 1,297 people were diagnosed with the infection, the figures shared by National Command and Operation Centre as well as the official website showed early Saturday.

Meanwhile, the death toll climbed to 417 as 32 more fatalities were reported from different parts of the country during the same period.

Although more cases and deaths are being reported, the number of those recovering from the infection also rose to 4,715.

As far as testing is concerned, 9,164 more people were tested after which the number of total tests reached 193,859.

Punjab continues to top the list of recorded cases as the total in the province reached 6,733. But Sindh is closing the gap at an alarming rate with 6,675 infected people. Details of other administrative units are: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 2,799, Balochistan 1,136, Islamabad 365, Gilgit-Baltistan 340 and Azad Kashmir 66.

On the other hand, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is by far ahead in the case of deaths which have reached 161. It is followed by Sindh 118, Punjab 115, Balochistan 16, Islamabad four and Gilgit-Baltistan three.

Meanwhile, the active cases in the country currently stand at 12,982 with most of these being reported from Sindh where the number is recorded at 5,262. It is followed in Punjab 4,413, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 1,948, Balochistan 937, Islamabad 317, Gilgit-Baltistan 82 and Azad Kashmir 23.
