The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday gave instructions for implementation on the Pakistan Information Commission’s order of making the gifts received by former prime minister Imran Khan public, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

During the hearing of the gifts case, Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb remarked that gifts were not meant to be taken to homes but were the property of the state. “Prime ministers come and go; but the PM House is here to stay,” he said, and added, “Please make a policy that whenever a gift is received, it is deposited in the state exchequer.”

Justice Aurangzeb went on to add that a prime minister not only received gifts from the foreign dignitaries, but also gave them whenever he visited any other country. “And those items which are gifted during foreign tours are purchased from the state exchequer,” he said, and directed that the gifts given by foreign visitors be put on display.

When the deputy attorney general (DAG) sought time from the court for taking fresh instructions from the government, Justice Aurangzeb allowed him two weeks but directed him to meanwhile ensure implementation on the information commission’s order.
