Muslim US Congresswoman Ilhan Abdullah Omar has separate meetings with the top Pakistani leadership during her maiden visit to Pakistan, 24NewsHD TV channel reported.
The congresswoman is on a four-day maiden visit to Pakistan and she planned meetings with the top political leaders including President Arif Alvi, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, National Assembly Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, and state minister Hina Rabbani Khan
The Pakistani leaders raised the issue of Indian atrocities in occupied Kashmir with the US congresswoman and stressed the need for the resolution of this longstanding issue for peace and prosperity in the region.

Speaking to the visiting dignitary, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan valued its longstanding relationship with the US and wanted to further deepen bilateral cooperation based on mutual respect, trust, and equality. He called for enhancing trade ties between the two states.
Shehbaz Sharif stressed the need for constructive engagement for lasting peace and prosperity in the region. He added that concerted efforts, at the global level, were needed to deal with the scourge of Islamophobia.
In response, the congresswoman thanked the prime minister and hoped that her visit to the country would help strengthen ties between Pakistan and the US Congress.
US congresswomen praised for fighting against Islamophobia
President Dr Arif Alvi, too raised the issue of Indian atrocities in held Valley saying that India was involved in the genocide of Muslims and committed gross human rights violations against them.
The president appreciated the outstanding role of the US Congresswomen in upholding Muslim values, fighting against Islamophobia, and in the cause of Palestinians and Kashmiris.
Minister of State for External Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar tells the visiting dignitary that Pakistan and the US have a long history of bilateral relations and Pakistan is committed to further strengthening bilateral relations with the United States and advancing bilateral cooperation in various fields of mutual interest.
She too apprised the US congresswoman of the unilateral Indian action on 5 August 2019 to deprive the Kashmiris of their rights.
The US Congresswoman and Raja Pervez Ashraf deliberated upon the Pak-US parliamentary cooperation, human rights, and Kashmir issue.
