A petition was filed Thursday in the Supreme Court (SC) for the restoration of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) assemblies, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
“The Supreme Court should order to restore Punjab and KP assemblies. The caretaker governments of Punjab and KP should be stopped from working,” the petition demanded.
“The provincial assemblies should complete five years according to the law. It is unconstitutional to keep the people away from their elected representatives,” it added.
The petition had been filed by Rai Ishtiaq Ahmed. The federal government, election commission and the caretaker governments in Punjab and KP had been made respondents in the petition.
