The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially advertised for the position of head coach for the national cricket team after interim coach Aaqib Javed expressed his unwillingness to continue in the role, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
According to the details, while Aaqib Javed has not yet been formally relieved of his duties, the PCB has already opened applications for the permanent head coach position, setting May 4, 2025, as the deadline for candidates to apply.
The job advertisement invites Level III certified coaches with at least 10 years of coaching experience at the national or top-tier domestic level. The board is also seeking a candidate with strong administrative and managerial skills to lead the men’s side in all formats.
The development follows a breakdown in relations between the PCB and former coaching duo Gary Kirsten and Jason Gillespie, who were dismissed after a series of underwhelming performances by the national team. In their place, Aaqib Javed was brought in as an interim solution.
The report also reveals that Aaqib Javed is interested in a different role—serving as the director of the High-Performance Centre (HPC)—for which the PCB has already issued a separate advertisement.
