The Pakistan Airline Pilots Association (PALPA) on Thursday said the statements against the pilots gave nothing but the destruction of the national flag carrier, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

In a statement, the PALPA said the campaign revolving around bogus degrees and flying licences was aimed at suppressing the voices those pilots who did not agree with the PIA management.

Calling for a probe into an attempt to ignite a fire in the licencing branch of Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), the representative boy of pilots said the majority of those in PIA management had no experience of commercial aviation.

Welcoming Prime Minister Imran Khan’s statement about creating the alleged bogus licences issue unnecessarily, it said wrong information was provided to the Parliament and him.

On the other hand, the Lahore High Court (LHC) stopped the CAA DG from taking final action on suspending the licences as two more pilots challenged the move.

Seeking replies from the DG and other respondents, the LHC also issued a notice to the attorney general.

As Justice Jawad Hassan heard the petition filed by Umar Aslam and Usman Aslam, he asked the counsel whether any case was pending with the apex court.

Justice Jawad warned that he would reject the petition if the Supreme Court was hearing any case. “Don’t bring the matter of bogus degree licence here. I am only hearing the cases concerning the licences suspended for not giving exams,” he observed and directed that all the cases would be heard by clubbing them together.

The applicants have argued that the CAA first suspended the licences and then gave himself the authority to hear the appeals which was in clear violation of the constitution.

The authority cancelling the licences to hear the appeals was against the principle of a fair trial, they added while requesting the court to declare the move licence cancellation ultra-virus and unconstitutional.
