In the first draft of the Lahore Master Plan, expansion of Canal Road, Mall Road, Walton Road and Shalimar Link Road has been made mandatory in proportion to the population.
It was informed in the briefing that the population of Lahore will reach 38 million by 2050.
According to a JICA study in Lahore, it was proposed to build a public transport system for the citizens.
In the master plan, emphasis is laid on the construction of Blue Line and Purple Line for the improvement of Lahore Public Transport.
The master plan suggests the construction of large buildings on the public land on both sides of the Orange Train line and Metro Bus, in which private landowners would also be able to construct large buildings. The Punjab government will help the citizens to build big buildings around the Orange Train and Metro Bus.
It was informed in the briefing that multi-story buildings should be constructed at Irrigation and other government offices at Thokar so that the government could get revenue from such big buildings.
Plans were also made to construct large buildings around the Metro bus stop at Chongi Amr Sadhu.
