Several sections of motorways were closed and flights denied landing at Lahore Airport due to dense fog on Tuesday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
According to the motorway police, Motorway (M-2) was closed from Lahore to Kot Momin, and Lahore-Multan Motorway was closed from Faizpur to Darkhana due to heavy fog.
Lahore-Sialkot Motorway (M-11) and Pindi Bhattian-Shorkot Motorway (M-4) were also closed.
Motorway (M-5) from Sher Shah to Rohri was also closed due to fog.
On the other hand, several flights were denied landing at Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore due to low visibility amid heavy fog.
According to the airport sources, the visibility limit on the runway was reduced to 50 meters, and therefore, the airport was closed for landing and take-off of planes.
At least five Lahore-bound flights were denied landing at the Allama Iqbal International Airport.
Lahore-bound flight PK748 from Madinah was not allowed to land.
Another Lahore-bound flight QR628 from Doha was also denied landing at the Lahore Airport.
Another flight PK760 from Jeddah was also disallowed to land at the Lahore Airport.
A Lahore-bound flight G9854 from Ras Al Khaimah was also not allowed to land.
Another flight PK248 from Dammam was still in the air, for it was also denied landing at the Lahore Airport.
In Narowal, the visibility was reduced to five meters in the city and zero in the suburbs due to dense fog.
The low visibility also affected the flow of traffic on Muridke Road, New Lahore Road, and Sialkot Road.
The traffic police advised the motorists to be careful while on road and keep their vehicles slow. They also advised them to use fog lights and double indicator on their vehicles.
In Hafizabad, the visibility was reduced to zero on the second day as well. All types of traffic were suspended due to heavy fog on Alipur Road and Qadirabad Road.
In Shakargarh, the city and the suburbs were in the influence of dense fog. The traffic flow was affected on Shakargarh, Kartarpur, Nurkot, and Zafarwal roads as the visibility was reduced to a very low level due to fog.
In Shikarpur, heavy fog ruled the city and the suburbs. The visibility was reduced to a very low level which affected the traffic flow on highways.
The traffic police advised the motorists to avoid unnecessary travel and use fog lights while traveling.
“The motorists should travel in the form of a convoy,” the traffic police said.
