Former Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) chief executive officer (CEO) Sheikh Akhtar was arrested from court in Islamabad on Wednesday after his pre-arrest bail was cancelled, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested Sheikh Akhtar on charges of corruption and possessing a fake degree, after cancellation of his bail by FIA Court Central Judge Sharukh Arjumand.
According to the FIA, Sheikh Akhtar is facing charges of committing corruption worth Rs2.5 billion.
An FIA spokesman said Sheikh Akhtar had received DRAP CEO appointment on the basis of a fake degree. The PHD degree, provided as qualification for the post, turned out to be fake, he added.
