The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has been asked to put an additional burden of nearly 67-billion rupees on the consumers by hiking the power tariff by Rs7.13 per unit, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) submitted application to the Nepra on Tuesday requesting the Authority to raise the electricity price by Rs7.13 per unit on account of month fuel adjustment for the month of January.
If approved, the consumers will bear an extra burden of Rs66.77 billion.
The Nepra is set to hearing the CPPA request on February 23.
It may be mentioned here that the caretaker government on Thursday last hiked the price of petrol by Rs2.73 per litre for the next fortnight.
The new price of petrol was now RsRs275.62 per litre from the previous price of Rs272.89, according to a notification from the Finance Division.
The price of high-speed diesel (HSD) was increased by Rs8.37 to Rs287.33 per litre.
