Shifting an accused in the murder case of a relative of a senior government official to the hospital proved costly for Adiala Jail Superintendent, who has been asked to report to IG Jail Office, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
Quoting sources, the TV channel reported that Superintendent Kot Lakhpat Jail Ijaz Asghar has been asked to replace Chaudhry Asghar as Superintendent Adiala Jail while Superintendent Camp Jail Asad Warraich has been given the additional charge of Superintendent Kot Lakhpat Jail.
Already two superintendents of Adiala Jail have been changed for shifting the same patient to the hospital. And now this is the third such replacement.
The sources in Adiala Jail said the prisoner is a coronavirus and heart patient. The sources further said that a panel of doctors had urged the jail authorities to shift him to a hospital for tests and treatment.
The sources further said that the jail authorities fearing the senior government official instead shifting the patient to hospital forwarded the issue to the high-ups.
When the senior government official learned about the issue the superintendent was removed from his post, the sources in the jail added.
