Mastermind of planning Nasla Tower, other illegal buildings in custody

Investigation revealed that former director of the Karachi Development Authority (KDA) Muhammad Waseem was the mastermind of planning the Nasla Tower and other illegal buildings in Karachi, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.

Nasla Tower was the 15-storey residential building located at the intersection of Sharae Faisal and Shahrah-i-Quaideen. The residential building is currently being demolished on Supreme Court (SC) directives issued in November last year.

Muhammad Waseem was arrested from the SHC along with the former secretary local bodies Roshan Ali Sheikh from the court.

According to 24News investigations, Muhammad Waseem was recruited in KDA in 1992 and was serving as grade-19 officer at the time of his arrest.

Muhammad Waseem and Roshan Ali Sheikh gave NOCs for the illegal construction of Nasla Tower and other illegal constrictions in the Clifton area and. The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has also probed Muhammad Waseem in the past.

Muhammad Waseem also appointed in the past as Hyderabad Development Authority (HDA).

Pertinent to note that a local court in Karachi on Jan 18 remanded a former honorary secretary of the Sindhi Muslim Cooperative Housing Society (SMCHS), Naveed Bashir, in police custody in a case pertaining to the encroachment of land meant for a service road in the city by virtue of the construction of Nasla Tower.
