The Supreme Court (SC) on Thursday threw out the appeal filed by the former president General (r) Pervez Musharraf against the rejection of his nomination papers for 2013 general elections, saying it was inadmissible for the hearing because of being devoid of solid arguments, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
A three-member of the apex court, headed by Justice Umar Ata Bandial, heard Musharraf’s appeal.
The apex court, in its remarks, said that the former president would be able to defend objections to his nomination papers in case he again contested a general election.
The court said that the parliament elected in the general elections of 2013 stood dissolved.
Iqbal Hashmi, counsel for Musharraf, told the court that his client had submitted his papers in Karachi. “The former president’s second petition is against the Peshawar High Court’s (PHC) decision,” he told the court.
The SC ordered that a larger bench be constituted for hearing former military dictator’s second appeal.
When Hashmi prayed to the court to fix the same date for the hearing of both the appeals, Justice Umar Ata Bandial remarked that today’s petition had already been thrown out. “Let’s wait what comes out of the second one when a larger bench of the apex court takes it up for the hearing,” he added.
