Former Utility Stores Managing Director (MD) Umar Lodhi received millions of rupees from the organisation in the form of gratuity though he was a contractual employee and gratuity is awarded to the regular employees only, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.

Quoting from the documents, the channel reported that Lodhi, who had resigned from his post, despite being a contractual employee received over Rs0.9 million in gratuity just before he left the organisation while, on the other hand, sources told 24NewsHD that thousands of retired employees of the Utility Stores who, unlike him, were permanent, were still deprived of gratuity funds.

Utility Stores spokesman told this channel that no contractual employee was entitled to gratuity since it was against rules.

The documents further revealed that despite the fact that he had given his resignation, Lodhi also received a 15-day salary for July amounting to Rs360,000.

Moreover, he did not give notice to the organisation before his resignation.

Apart from that, the former MD also did not return the laptop and mobile phone given to him by the organisation.
