Justice (retd) Mazhar Alam Miankhel has also declined the offer to serve as an ad-hoc judge of the Supreme Court and has informed the Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) about of his decision.
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, Justice Miankhel was the third former judge to decline the offer after Justice (retd) Mushir Alam and Justice (retd) Maqbool Baqar.
On the other hand, Justice (retd) Sardar Tariq Masood has agreed to serve as an ad-hoc judge of the apex court.
The Judicial Commission of Pakistan's (JCP) meeting, chaired by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa, will be held today to discuss the appointment of ad hoc judges to the Supreme Court.
Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa had proposed the names of four retired judges for the ad-hoc positions.
Yesterday, after Justice (retd) Mushir Alam’s refusal, Justice (retd) Maqbool Baqar also decided against being appointed to the Supreme Court as an ad hoc judge.
Baqar’s announcement came days after Justice (retd) Mushir Alam turned down the offer to work as an ad hoc judge for a three-year term.
