A guardian court in Lahore issued on Saturday arrest warrants for ex-husband of singer Marvi Sanam in children custody case.
The court of Yaqoob Ali issued arrest warrants for Hamid, the singer’s ex-husband, over defiance of directives to appear along with children. The judge ordered police to take Hamid to the court on the next hearing.
On Friday, the folk singer approached court seeking custody of her children. In her plea, she told the court their marriage broke up because Hamid Ali is a ‘mentally-unfit’ man.
On Thursday, a family court released a decree allowing Sanam to part ways. The folk singer had married Hamid Ali in 2009 and has three children with him.
She told the court that Hamid became violent and abusive after marriage. "I was putting up with his abuse for the sake of my children. It is no longer possible for me to be with my husband," she told the court of Sana Afzal.
