The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Saturday threw out all the pleas filed by the Sugar Mills Association against the inquiry report into the sugar scam, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah announced the four-page short order allowing the government and other institutions to continue their action on the sugar inquiry report.
The court ruled that the formation of the inquiry commission and its report were not tantamount to abuse of powers.
The court said it would give the reasons in the detailed judgment which will be released later.
Earlier in the morning, the IHC reserved its verdict on the pleas filed by Sugar Mills Association against the report of sugar scandal inquiry commission.
During the hearing of the case, Chief Justice Athar Minallah remarked that setting price of commodities is not job of the court.
During his arguments, the Attorney General informed the court that sugar inquiry commission report is not biased as it is also against some government persons.
Justice Athar Minallah, while having a dialogue with the lawyer of the millers association, said that how they can extend restraining order after such strong arguments.
It is pertinent to mention here that Islamabad High Court (IHC) had issued a restraining order for 10 days on sugar inquiry commission and directed to sell the sugar at Rs70 per kilogram.
Earlier, owners of 17 mills, including Pakistan Sugar Mills Association, challenged the report of sugar scandal inquiry commission in the IHC.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-insaf (PTI) senior leader Jahangir Tareen, son of Speaker Punjab Assembly and brother of the Federal Minister Khusro Bakhtyar said to be among the petitioners.
