The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) will mark the birth anniversary of former prime minister Banazir Bhutto with simplicity, PPP Punjab leader Qamar Zaman Kaira said on Saturday.
Following the directives of PPP chief Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the workers will mark the day with simplicity, Kaira said on the eve of 67th birthday of first woman premier of a Muslim state.
However, he said the party workers will cut the cake at home to commemorate the birthday of their slain leader today.
In his message, former president Asif Ali Zardari listed feats the PPP achieved in fight for revival of democracy.
He said: “BB’s mission of restoration of the 1973 Constitution has been accomplished. She defeated two dictators through democratic struggle, which is a torchbearer for progressive people.
“Benazir Bhutto’s foreign policy guarantees Pakistan’s prestige and following her policy, the parliament was provided with the right to making foreign policy.”
The former president said: “We have waged a war against the anti-democratic mindset. We stand firm on the principle of a free and fair parliament.”
