The PML-N on Friday moved the Islamabad High Court (IHC) against the use of Sehat Cards as the PTI’s advertisement campaign.

Asking the court to stop the use of PTI flag on the card, the petition said utilising government resources for the purpose was a violation of the Supreme Court order.

It cited the then chief justice Saqib Nisar who had taken suo motto notice of the government ads on Feb 28, 2018 and later stopped the ads of Punjab, Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governments.

The petition is filed by Noor-ul-Hassan Tanveer and Barrister Mohsin Shahnawaz Ranjha under Article 199 and 187(2) while making Prime Minister Imran Khan as the PTI chairman and the Federation through the principal secretary to the prime minister as well as the information and health ministries as respondents.

They said that the Sehat Insaf Cards had been shaped like the PTI flag, only to promote a particular political party.

The petition also mentioned that the Supreme Court, in a separate order dated March 8, 2018, had banned the advertisement of any political leader, party or symbol. Imran had welcomed the judgment in a tweet back then, it added.

The petitioners said that the Federation as well as the health and information ministries were spending the public money indiscriminately on campaigning for the PTI.

It said that nothing had been done on an application submitted to National Assembly Asad Qaiser on the issue.
