Federal Minister for Finance Ishaq Dar said his statement on the floor of the Senate on March 16, in answer to a question about the reasons for the delay in the IMF programme, is being quoted out of context.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, Dar stated that his remarks on Pakistan's nuclear programme were in answer to a specific inquiry from a colleague Senator, and that Pakistan has the sovereign right to develop its nuclear programme as long as it best serves our national interests.
He highlighted that neither the IMF nor any other country has imposed any conditions or demanded anything from Pakistan in relation to our nuclear capacity.
