As train service partially resumed in the country after around two-month-long suspension, two trains left the Rawalpindi Railway Station on Wednesday morning, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
One of these was Karachi-bound Pakistan Express which carried 345 passengers with Subak Kharam having a capacity of 220 being the other, which left for Lahore.
Meanwhile, 45 percent of those using Pakistan Express will travel to Karachi while the Subak Kharam had 50 percent passengers out of its total capacity.
All the passengers were wearing masks at the railway station before boarding the trains where they were seated while keeping social distancing in view.
Meanwhile, the Lahore Railway Station again became operational with an end to the 56-day break in train service.
During the day, passengers will use a total of 22 trains to travel to Multan, Rohri, Karachi, Rawalpindi, Peshawar and other destinations from the provincial capital.
It was the Rawalpindi-bound Subak Kharam which became the first train to leave Lahore at 7:30am. Later, the Karachi-bound Khyber Mail reached Lahore at 8am from Peshawar while Allama Iqbal Expressed from Karachi arrived at 9:30am.
According to the train schedule, Subak Kharam will arrive from Rawalpindi 12pm and Tezgam from Karachi at 12:45pm while Allama Express is scheduled to leave for Karachi at 12:15pm. Shah Hussain will arrive at 2:30pm, Green Line at 3:45pm and Awam Express at 4:45pm from Karachi.
Meanwhile, Islamabad Express will leave for Rawalpindi 6pm while the one leaving Rawalpindi is expected to reach Lahore at 10:30pm with Shah Hussain leaving for Karachi at 7pm.
