PIA directed to launch special UAE flight operation

Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani has issued directives for repatriation of Pakistanis stuck in United Arab Emirates.

Sanjrani on Wednesday issued directives to PIA for launching UAE flight operation for repatriation of Pakistanis, especially people belonged to Balochistan. He said that expats were in trouble and they should be brought back through PIA special flights.

The Senate chairman wrote a letter to Aviation Secretary to launch the PIA flight operation. He said that all the big cities were included in the repatriation plan except Quetta. He demanded to include Quetta in the list so that Balochistan people would be brought back to their province.

On Tuesday, the Pakistan government announced that 22 special repatriation flights would be operated from the UAE to different cities of Pakistan. Pakistan International Airlines will operate 20 flights while the UAE carriers will operate two flights, repatriating thousands of stranded Pakistanis from the UAE.

In total, more than 10,000 Pakistanis will be repatriated during May 22 to 31 schedule and around 5,000 of them will be flown back from the UAE. Officials said this schedule is subject to change, depending on the approvals of the governments and operational changes due to Covid-19.
