Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board (PCTB) on Wednesday put a ban on a children’s mathematics book that included pigs’ images to solve their mathematics problems.
In a notification issued on Wednesday titled, “Prohibition of the booklet series: Titled Infant Mathematics. (Pakistan Edition} published without prior approval of Punjab Curriculum Text Board by M/S Sunrise Publications” prohibited the use of the book for studies.
According to the notification, “The book contains material and content failing under Section 10(5), of the Punjab Curriculum and Textbooks Board Act 2015 under which printing, publication, selling or prescribing in an institution of any textbook or supplementary material.”
“Likely to be detrimental for examination or assessment purposes or which contains anything repugnant to the injunction of Islam or contrary, to the integrity, defence or security of Pakistan or any part of Pakistan, public order or integrity cannot be approved. “
The PCTB officials said the cited booklet series was being published and sold without prior approval of the board that was a violation of Section 10 of Punjab Curriculum and Textbooks Board Act 2015.
According to the notification, it has been directed to the publishers to stop producing, printing, and publishing, selling or using it in any institution and asked to comply with the directions and submit the report within seven working days.
