A Pakistan International Airlines flight steward has allegedly slipped into Canada, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.
According to PIA sources, Muntazir Mehndi reached Canada from Lahore by PIA flight on Thursday and was supposed to fly back from Toronto to Lahore on Friday by flight PK-798, but he secretly disappeared from the hotel. He was staying with other crew members at a hotel in the city when he went missing. The disappearance came to light when he did not reach the hotel lobby as he was scheduled to travel to Lahore on the return flight on May 19.
Earlier, four men and three women of PIA crew members allegedly slipped in Canada. But PIA authorities did not reportedly apply to the interior ministry for cancellation of the Pakistani citizenship of the missing air crews.
Missing air staff from other countries have their citizenship revoked immediately. PIA even did not provide data to FIA for the repatriation of missing air service persons. It is learned that those who slip get their national identity cards renewed easily.
According to the spokesperson of the national airline, seven employees, including three female air hostesses, who escaped after reaching Canada in two years, had been dismissed from their jobs and action would be taken against them after the investigation was completed.
The PIA administration informed the Canadian Border Security Force and initiated disciplinary action against the crew member for not arriving on duty.
