Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi has expressed deep shock and grief over the deaths of Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi, the country’s foreign minister and others in a helicopter crash on Sunday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.
Offering condolences to the government and the people of Iran, the minister said that he had been deeply saddened by the loss of lives in the incident. “We share the grief of the Iranian nation,” he said, and added, “The government and the people of Pakistan stand by their brethren in Iran in this hour of grief.”
Naqvi went on to say that Raisi was Pakistan’s best friend. “The meeting I had with him during his recent visit to Pakistan was a memorable one,” he said, adding, “His services for further strengthening ties between the two countries will be remembered forever,” he concluded.
